Grade 9

* In Grade 9, students take Geography as a compulsory credit.  Students can choose Applied (CGC1P) or Academic (CGC1D).

* In Grade 9, students have the option of taking HIF1O: Exploring Family Studies, as one of their elective credits.  

 

This course is intended to give students an introduction into various topics explored in Family Studies and Social Studies courses.  It explores, within the context of families, some of the fundamental challenges people face: how to meet basic needs, how to relate to others, how to manage resources, and how to become responsible members of society.

* History courses begin in Grade 10

 

 

Grade 10

* In Grade 10, students must take 1 History course, as well as the Civics/Career Studies course (Civics and Careers are each worth .5 a credit)

 

* At MPSS, students may take one of the following for their History credit:

CHC 2D - Grade 10 Canadian History in the 20th Century, Academic Level

CHC 2P - Grade 10 Canadian History in the 20th Century, Applied Level

NAC 2O - First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Peoples in Canada, Open Level

 

* Students will also take CHV2O (Civics) and GLC2O (Career Studies) in their Grade 10 year

 

* Students also have the option of taking HIF2O as an elective credit, if they did not take HIF1O in Grade 9.
